Open Mic Night

Every Wednesday night from 7.30pm the Melting Pot re-open for our long established Open Mic Night. A relaxed assemblage of local musicians who take it in turn to play their own compositions, or just join in and jam along to others.

Anyone is welcome to join in of any skill, from those just starting out with an instrument to the gigging musician on a night off. And everyone is welcome to come along and just listen (or sing along). Any contribution is welcome, from music, poetry, dance, rap, short stories, anecdotes, jokes. Come along and entertain or build that all important confidence from the support of others.

The evening is free to enter and ends around 10pm.

The Melting Pot is a great small venue with its own unique proscenium stage in miniature where we host bands of all kinds and even theatre productions, check out our events page for future gigs.

Meet the Team

On the 5th of February 2016 new owners, Charlie and Tracey Coleman, took over the running of The Melting Pot. The cafe you all know and love continues to run as normal, being open daytime weekdays for hot & cold food, teas, coffee, and licenced cold drinks too.  As well as open on occasional evenings for gigs, and various social events.

The long running weekly singer-songwriter, Wednesday nights (hosted by Krowji Music Club) continue as well, and many new social evenings will be introduced in the coming months.

We plan to expand on the special events of the past and try and bring more creative live music, dance, and other various performances to our stage, including our resident amateur theatre group, Ellsie Productions who continue to bring us 2 – 3 shows each year.

Thanks to a collaboration with C-FYLM we have a film club (The Melting Pot Community Cinema) that aims to bring films to the big screen in a relaxed alternative environment from your usual cinema.
